The Cray Valley Award
This special award and certificate is available to all radio amateurs and Short Wave Listeners (SWLs), who work or hear a specified number of Cray Valley RS members and/or our club and special event stations. It is a five tiered award with basic, bronze, silver, gold and diamond stages. The special certificate is shown below. Its aims are to encourage and increase contact with Cray Valley RS members and our locality and to foster radio friendship. A good way to start looking for active Cray Valley stations, is to listen in and/or join in to our regular open Cray Valley RS nets.

G Stations (England) | 20 | 45 | 60 | 75 | 100 |
European Stations(1) | 10 | 30 | 40 | 50 | |
DX Stations | 5 | 15 | 20 | 25 |

Points Allocation
- Cray Valley Radio Society Members
(see the list of current members at the bottom of this page)
Each member worked counts as 1 point. NB: Contacts with different callsigns for the same member cannot be counted separately; each member contacted only counts as a single point. So for example if you’ve logged QSOs with M0WDV and MW0WDV, this counts as 1 point only. The same goes for contacts with members if they have foreign callsigns or contest callsigns; only one contact with any given member regardless of callsign counts towards the award. - Club Callsigns and Special Event Stations
Each count as 3 points (up to the maximum number allowed per class – see below). Except for the Basic award, additional club/SES contacts beyond the maximum may count as 1 point each (but equally they can be “held back” to count towards a higher-class award if preferred). NB: Contact with different club callsigns can be counted separately. So for example if you’ve logged QSOs with G3RCV, GX3RCV, M8C and MM8C this counts as 4 separate contacts.
Class | Maximum Number of 3-Point QSOs with club/SES callsigns | Additional QSOs with club/SES callsigns can be counted for 1 point each ? |
Basic | 1 | No |
Bronze | 3 | Yes |
Silver | 4 | Yes |
Gold | 5 | Yes |
Diamond | 6 | Yes |
Note that the maxium number of 3-point QSOs for each award level shown in the table above includes 3-point QSOs for the previous award level. So for example, if your Basic award application included a 3-point QSO with a club/SES station, you can allocate two more 3-point QSOs towards your Bronze award for a total of three 3-point QSOs. Any additional club/SES QSOs could either be “held back” towards higher award levels, or applied towards your Bronze award at a value of 1 point each.
