GB198LW – Radio 4 Long Wave Closure

To mark the very sad ending of BBC Radio 4 broadcasting on Long Wave from the Droitwich transmitter, CVRS will operate the special callsign GB198LW on 26th and 27th June.
Operation will be from the club shack in Eltham, with additional antennas erected for the event. There will be four stations capable of simultaneous operation. Three will cover the HF bands 80-10m on SSB. CW and FT8. The fourth will be a VHF station on 2m FM for local and semi-local contacts.
The scout Hall will be open to the public from 10am-4pm on Saturday 27th with a display of vintage broadcast receivers and information about the Droitwich, Westerglen and Burghead transmitting stations. Look out also for GB198KHZ and GB198END to mark the closure of the two Scottish stations. QSLs for all three and for GB1500M will be handled by Charles, M0OXO.
